Snow in Texas

Well, we didn't quite get what Chicago got, but we did get a winter storm.  On Saturday, I was outside in jeans and a t-shirt soaking in some Vitamin D.  On Monday, while we all were sleeping, a storm blew in and we woke up to a fresh blanket of snow.  It hasn't been a pleasant snow.  It's bitterly cold, and that's spoken from the mouth of a full-blooded Minnesotan.  Also, houses just aren't insulated the same down here.  The best of them are drafty when it gets this cold.  And I miss my electric blanket I had when we lived in Minnesota.  The good news is that this one inch of snow and ice has shut down the city for two full days now.  That means we've been "living the dream" here at the house... that is pretending like we don't have jobs.  After two days, I think I am ready to go back to our normal routine.  The first day we didn't do school and played in the snow.  Today, I was a mean mom and made them do school.  It's been fun, but I'm ready for spring!

The boys were so excited to pull out their winter gear.

This wind is cold, Mommy.

Snow games.

It's still so cold out here.

We let them play tackle football because they were well-insulated.

Cute in his goofy hat.

Wrapping your hands around a warm mug of cocoa...

Best part of playing outside in the cold.

Great pictures friend! I am sure your northern friends are rolling their eyes at "snow"! Last February was actually very pretty-- probably never to be seen again!

I love it! I couldn't even go outside to take out the trash much less let the kids play in it. That's what dads are for right?
Love,
